David Semeniuk (Vancouver B.C.,Canada), a formally trained scientist makes experimental photographs exploring the meaning of spaces. By making bold mash-ups of places over various time spans he’s investigating the the relationship between a place and the specific site that form its urban landscape. By asking the questioning what it means when different sites, at particular point in time can easily substitute for the same place. Do we lose the specificity of the site, or does the repetition of these urban elements – pulled together – illuminate something about the specificity of place?
Amazing how few adjust are made to get a total different experience of an specific site.
